New York: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar has called on the United Nations Security Council to promptly address ongoing human rights issues in Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the council to implement its resolutions concerning the region without delay.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the request was made through a letter delivered to the President of the UN Security Council by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Munir Akram. The letter emphasized the need to end what it described as significant violations of human rights by Indian forces in Kashmir, particularly the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people.
The Deputy Prime Minister’s communication highlights concerns over the current situation in the Indian-administered region of Jammu and Kashmir. The letter aims to draw international attention to what it terms as severe rights abuses by Indian forces, urging the Security Council to take decisive action.
