Islamabad: In a significant move to support local agriculture, Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain announced that fertilizer companies will establish model centers in every district. This initiative aims to ensure that farmers have direct access to fertilizers at fair prices, circumventing the current challenges posed by middlemen.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the decision was made during a meeting of the Fertilizer Review Committee chaired by Minister Hussain. He emphasized that these centers will help eliminate the manipulation of prices by dealers, allowing farmers to purchase fertilizers at the original cost. This initiative follows the recent inauguration of several model centers by Fauji Fertilizer Company.
Minister Hussain also stated that the government is committed to preventing the exploitation of farmers by middlemen. He has directed provincial authorities to enforce strict measures against hoarding and price manipulation. The committee also noted satisfaction with the current stock availability of fertilizer, indicating readiness to support agricultural demands.
This development is part of a broader effort to enhance agricultural productivity and economic stability for farmers across the country.
