Finance Minister Aurangzeb Discusses Digital Initiatives with Huawei in Islamabad

Islamabad, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met today with Mr. Sun Xiaofei, CEO of Huawei Pakistan, and his senior management team at the Finance Division to discuss advancing Pakistan’s digital infrastructure.

According to Ministry of Finance, Mr. Xiaofei detailed Huawei’s ongoing digital and ICT initiatives and the company’s longstanding contributions to Pakistan’s ICT sector over the past 25 years. He emphasized Pakistan’s potential as a future IT hub and discussed Huawei’s Pakistan Global Service Centre, which supports partners across the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa. The Huawei team proposed further cooperation in areas such as tax digitalization, e-invoicing, revenue automation, and other IT applications that could enhance Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and promote sustainable economic growth.

Minister Aurangzeb expressed appreciation for Huawei’s proposals and highlighted the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) efforts towards digitizing the tax system. He acknowledged the significant potential for leveraging existing data to achieve quick wins in the digital transformation of Pakistan’s economy. The meeting concluded with an invitation from Mr. Xiaofei for Minister Aurangzeb to visit Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen to discuss broader cooperation on finance and digital economy initiatives.
