Finance Minister Commends UNDP Support in Flood Recovery and Development Efforts

Islamabad, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb praised the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for its continuous support during the 2022 floods and its role in Pakistan’s broader development agenda. The minister’s remarks came during a meeting with Kanni Wignaraja, Director of the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, and the UNDP Country Representative to Pakistan, held in Islamabad.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions focused on reinforcing the partnership between Pakistan and UNDP to foster poverty reduction, prosperity, and sustainable development. Minister Aurangzeb highlighted UNDP’s efforts in providing critical support during the floods and its initiative in mobilizing both national and international expertise for innovative financing solutions aimed at inclusive development in Pakistan.

In response, Kanni Wignaraja reiterated UNDP’s commitment to supporting Pakistan in achieving its development goals, reflecting a mutual dedication to addressing both immediate recovery needs and long-term developmental strategies.
