First Consignment of High Breed Cattle from Brazil Arrives in Pakistan

Islamabad, Pakistan has received its first consignment of high breed cattle from Brazil, a significant step under the Special Investment Council (SIFC) to boost the Green Pakistan Livestock Initiative (GPLI). This import aims to enhance the quality of meat and milk production in the country by providing local farmers with access to genetically superior cattle.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the arrival of these cattle marks a crucial phase in the government’s efforts to improve the livestock sector. The breeds imported combine both local Pakistani and Brazilian varieties, selected for their high-yield potential in meat and milk production.

The cattle, upon arrival, were transported from Sialkot to Okara, where they will undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine period to ensure health and safety standards are met before they are distributed to local farmers.

This initiative not only represents a significant investment in Pakistan’s agricultural and livestock industries but also signifies a step towards sustainable livestock development, aiming to meet the increasing meat and milk requirements of the country.
