Food Minister Toro Inspects Wheat Procurement Control Room in Peshawar

Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Minister Zahir Shah Toro visited a newly established control room designed to monitor the province’s wheat procurement centers. During his visit, he was briefed on the technological advancements being employed, including the installation of CCTV cameras with night vision capabilities at 22 purchase centers across the province.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister Toro reviewed the operational aspects of the control room and was informed about the establishment of a complaint cell to address any issues promptly. He shared with the media that the provincial government has initiated the procurement of 3 lakh metric tons of wheat, with a significant financial allocation of 29 billion rupees.

The initial phase of this procurement prioritizes local farmers and is conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Toro lauded the use of a procurement app that ensures all transactions are recorded instantly and payments are processed within 24 hours through the Bank of Khyber, emphasizing the commitment to transparency and efficiency in the procurement process. He reiterated the government’s dedication to preventing corruption and ensuring fair pricing in wheat distribution.
