Foreign Secretary Syrus Sajjad Qazi Advocates for Dialogue at 31st ASEAN Regional Forum

Vientiane: Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi represented Pakistan at the 31st ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial meeting, emphasizing Pakistan’s dedication to regional stability and its strong ties with ASEAN members.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, Qazi highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to peace and cooperation within the Asia-Pacific area. He praised ASEAN’s contributions to regional integration and prosperity, while also sharing insights on key regional conflicts, advocating for dialogue over bloc politics. The Foreign Secretary stressed the necessity of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri populace. He also discussed the ongoing situations in Gaza and Afghanistan, presenting Pakistan’s viewpoint on these critical issues.

In addition to his participation in the forum, the Foreign Secretary held meetings with key diplomatic figures including Dato’ Astnaah Abdul Aziz, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN; Sun Weidong, Vice Foreign Minister of China; and Dato’ Sri Amran Mohamed Zin, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, to further discuss bilateral and multilateral cooperation opportunities.
