Forests Are Nation’s Precious Asset, Says KP Minister for Forests and Environment

Peshawar, In a spirited call for environmental conservation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Forests and Environment, Fazal Hakeem Khan Yousafzai, emphasized that forests represent a significant national treasure, warranting collective responsibility for their safeguarding. Addressing a meeting focused on the Forestry Department’s initiatives, Yousafzai urged for a unified effort among all societal segments, particularly the youth, to ensure the success of ongoing plantation drives and to bolster forest protection.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during the meeting, Forest Secretary Nazar Hussain Shah provided an extensive overview of the department’s achievements, including the plantation drive and the Billion Tree Plus project. Minister Yousafzai highlighted the critical need for local community engagement in forest conservation efforts, positing that fostering a sense of ownership among residents is crucial for safeguarding this invaluable resource.

Yousafzai elaborated on the dual responsibility of promoting forest growth and preventing deforestation, asserting that increasing forestation is not only a religious duty but also a national obligation. He advocated for public education on the importance of forests to enhance community participation in conservation efforts. Moreover, Yousafzai called on government officers to adopt a service-oriented approach, ensuring accessibility and fairness in their duties to further the cause of environmental stewardship.
