Government Focuses on Power Sector Reforms to Lower Electricity Tariffs, Says Minister Leghari

Islamabad: Minister for Power Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari has announced that the government is actively pursuing reforms in the power sector aimed at reducing electricity tariffs to more affordable levels.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Leghari, in a discussion with a private channel, emphasized the necessity of sector-wide reforms. These reforms include revisiting agreements made by previous administrations with Independent Power Producers to align costs with consumer interests.

The Minister underscored the government’s commitment to alleviating the financial burden on electricity consumers, stating that all necessary steps are being taken to achieve substantial reductions in tariff rates.
