Government Forms Committee to Address Jamat-e-Islami’s Rally Concerns

Islamabad: The government has initiated discussions with Jamat-e-Islami, aiming to resolve ongoing disagreements, notably regarding the planned rally location transition from Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi to Islamabad. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, along with Federal Minister Amir Muqam, has expressed readiness to engage directly with Jamat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman to address their concerns.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a three-member committee, including Attaullah Tarar, Amir Muqam, and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, has been established to conduct negotiations with the Jamat-e-Islami leadership. This development follows the government’s clarification on the nature of the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, emphasizing that it is a continuation of the National Action Plan’s anti-terrorism efforts, led by the police and supported by the Frontier Corps, with the army to intervene in border areas if necessary.

Amir Muqam highlighted the provincial government’s primary role in maintaining law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, pointing out the longstanding governance of the region by the PTI. Additionally, Attaullah Tarar criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s engagement with a non-credible organization for youth training in artificial intelligence, which lacks the authority to issue valid certifications.
