Govt Announces Intent to Privatize 24 State-Owned Entities

Islamabad, The government has announced plans to privatize approximately 24 state-owned enterprises (SOEs), including major entities like Pakistan International Airlines and Roosevelt Hotel, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce public sector expenditure.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a session in the National Assembly, Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan outlined the privatization strategy in response to inquiries about the future of various SOEs. The session also addressed concerns regarding economic sectors such as power theft and water distribution, highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing key infrastructural and regulatory challenges. The Assembly session was a significant platform for discussing and advancing legislative measures aimed at improving the management and performance of vital national services.
