Islamabad: The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, held discussions with the Prime Minister of Pakistan on the collaborative use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. The meeting, which took place at the Prime Minister House, focused on the role of nuclear energy in addressing climate change and its applications in various sectors.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the Prime Minister acknowledged the IAEA’s efforts in promoting nuclear energy as a sustainable solution and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to using nuclear technology for development. The conversation covered the peaceful applications of nuclear technology in fields such as healthcare, agriculture, industry, and water management.
Pakistan, a founding member of the IAEA, highlighted its longstanding partnership with the agency, which has facilitated advancements in nuclear power generation and socio-economic growth. The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s progress in sectors like cancer treatment and food preservation, attributing these achievements to the support from the IAEA.
