Imran Khan Convicted in Major Corruption Case, Says Information Minister

Islamabad: Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been convicted in the Al Qadir Trust case, which involves £190 million, based on compelling evidence, according to the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Tarar described the case as Pakistan’s largest corruption scandal. In a televised address on Wednesday, he highlighted the conviction as significant and pointed out that Malik Riaz, a co-accused in the case, has been declared an absconder.

Mr. Tarar also mentioned that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is actively pursuing credible steps for Malik Riaz’s extradition, including engaging with the United Arab Emirates government. He emphasized the existence of substantial evidence against Malik Riaz and other individuals involved, urging them to face the court.

The Information Minister assured that the NAB operates in strict accordance with legal procedures without bias. He noted that this marks the first instance where the NAB has taken action against such high-profile individuals after fulfilling all necessary legal requirements.
