Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has stated that the Hindutva ideology propagated by the Indian leadership poses the greatest threat to peace in South Asia. Speaking at a policy dialogue titled “Peace in South Asia” hosted by the Institute of Regional Studies, he highlighted the growing concerns over fundamentalism and extremism in India.
According to Radio Pakistan, Attaullah Tarar discussed the deterioration in the region, linking it directly to the rise of extremism in India. He also accused India of sponsoring terrorism inside Pakistan. The Information Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in fostering peace across the region. However, he warned that Pakistan’s aspirations for peace should not be mistaken for weakness, emphasizing the nation’s readiness to respond to any unprovoked aggression effectively.
Tarar underscored the importance of resolving all disputes, particularly the longstanding issue of Jammu and Kashmir. He mentioned that President Trump has previously addressed the Kashmir dispute, urging respect for the UN Security Council Resolutions. Additionally, Tarar highlighted the significance of the Indus Water Treaty, describing it as a legally binding document that cannot be unilaterally disregarded. He asserted that Pakistan considers water as a vital resource and will decisively respond to any attempts to disrupt its flow.
