Indian troops assault civilians, photojournalist in Shopian

Srinagar, February 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops have subjected to brute torture several people including a photojournalist in Shopian district.The photojournalists were covering an anti-India protest demonstration against the killing of two youth by Indian troops in the Pinjora area of the district, when the forces lobbed teargas shells and beat up several civilians including a photojournalist, Sajjad Ahmad.

All the injured were shifted to district hospital for treatment. Three of the injured have been seriously affected by pellet guns. They were shifted to Soura hospital in Srinagar for treatment.

“I was returning from the operation site when the forces grabbed me and beat me mercilessly. The troops also damaged my cameras,” the photojournalist, Sajjad Ahmad said.

Meanwhile, a police constable posted at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), died under mysterious circumstance near Jewel area in Jammu.
