Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, nearly ten thousand people have been evacuated from Budgam and adjoining Srinagar areas after incessant rains caused a major breach in the Jhelum embankment, triggering flood threats across the Valley.
According to Radio Pakistan, entire neighborhoods including Lasjan, Soiteng, Nowgam, Vyethpora, Gopalpora, Badshahi Bagh, and Mehjoor Nagar were asked to move to safer places after repeated announcements were made through mosques and local committees.
The rains have also forced the closure of schools and universities across the occupied territory.
At least seven Kashmiri labourers from Tulail, Bandipora, are feared dead after a massive landslide struck Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of India has refused interim bail to senior Hurriyat leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah despite his deteriorating health in a case filed by the notorious National Investigation Agency.
Analysts have said that Shabbir Ahmad Shah’s continued detention, coupled with raids, arrests, and property seizures, proves how New Delhi has weaponized its judiciary and agencies to suppress the Kashmiris’ struggle for UN-recognized right to self-determination.
