India’s Weaponization of Indus Waters Treaty Unacceptable: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to work closely with Iran for peace, stability, and development in the region. He was speaking with the Foreign Minister of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who met him in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister expressed his sincere condolences to the Iranian side over the tragic explosion in Bandar Abbas that resulted in the loss of lives and injured hundreds. During the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed his respects to Supreme Leader Ayatullah Ali Khamenei and shared warm wishes for President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The Prime Minister also shared Pakistan’s concerns over the tensions in South Asia due to India’s actions following the Pahalgam incident. He rejected any attempts to link Pakistan to the incident without evidence and offered an international, transparent, neutral, and credible investigation into the matter.

Additionally, he highlighted that India’s weaponization of the Indus Waters Treaty was unacceptable and a redline for Pakistan. The Iranian Foreign Minister conveyed greetings from the Iranian leadership and reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to strengthening relations with Pakistan and contributing to peace in South Asia.
