Interior Minister Sets Ambitious Six-Month Deadline for New Islamabad Jail Construction

Islamabad, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has instructed authorities to expedite the construction of a new jail in Sector H of Islamabad, setting a strict six-month deadline for completing the first phase of the project.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during his visit to the construction site, Minister Naqvi expressed dissatisfaction with the seven-year delay in the project, attributing it to incompetence. He directed the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad and the IG of Islamabad Police to regularly monitor the project’s progress to ensure its timely completion.

The minister emphasized the necessity of continuous work on the project and called for the immediate initiation of the staff recruitment process. He also assured the provision of necessary resources to meet the construction timeline. Once completed, the new facility will initially house 2,000 prisoners, with plans to expand its capacity to accommodate an additional 2,000.
