Islamabad Initiates Digital Tax System Upgrade with Global Consultancy

Islamabad, In a major move to modernize its tax system, Pakistan has embarked on a digital transformation project, following a high-level meeting at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) headquarters with key stakeholders including the Ministry of Finance and Karandaaz Pakistan, along with the globally renowned consultancy, McKinsey and Company.

According to Press Information Department, this project, backed by financial assistance from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in tax collection, aligning with the government’s vision for sustained economic growth. Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb, emphasized the government’s commitment to digital transformation as a pivotal element in improving the nation’s tax administration and fostering economic growth. FBR Chairman Mr. Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana and CEO of Karandaaz Pakistan, Waqas ul Hasan, also highlighted the project’s potential to define and implement a cutting-edge digital strategy, contributing to the broader Pakistan Digital Stack initiative.

The collaboration with McKinsey and Company is expected to bring significant expertise to the endeavor, promising a substantial impact on Pakistan’s approach to tax collection.
