Japanese Ambassador Meets Pakistan’s Law Minister to Discuss Bilateral Relations and Security Measures

Islamabad, Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. WADA Mitsuhiro, met with Pakistan’s Minister for Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, on April 23, 2024, in Islamabad. The courtesy call provided an opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest, including culture, traditions, security, and ongoing legal reforms.

According to Press Information Department, Minister Tarar praised Japan for its longstanding friendship with Pakistan, acknowledging Japan’s support during times of need, particularly during the 2022 floods. The ambassador and the minister discussed the security situation in Pakistan and the measures being implemented to ensure the safety of all foreign personnel in the country.

The Law Minister highlighted the government’s resolve to address security concerns and explained that a special protection unit was being organized at the direction of the Prime Minister. He reassured the Japanese Ambassador that the government is committed to providing security for foreign dignitaries and personnel in Pakistan.

The discussion also touched upon the economic situation, with the Law Minister expressing optimism about future economic prospects. He emphasized the government’s commitment to economic revival and noted that ongoing work on legal reforms would contribute to creating a more favorable environment for investment and business.

The meeting concluded with the Law Minister assuring the Japanese Ambassador of full support and cooperation from the government to facilitate the presence of foreign dignitaries and personnel in Pakistan.
