Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Meets WHO Delegation to Discuss Health Cooperation

Peshawar, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur met with a delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) led by Country Head Dr. Lo Diping at the Chief Minister House in Peshawar. The meeting focused on health-related programs conducted by WHO in the province and discussed ways to increase collaboration between the provincial government and WHO.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister Gandapur acknowledged WHO’s role in public health, particularly in the fight against the polio virus, and expressed appreciation for the organization’s ongoing support. He assured that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would provide all possible support to ensure the success of the anti-polio program, aiming to eradicate the virus from the province and the country.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the provincial government’s efforts to strengthen the primary health care sector by providing medical equipment and staff to local health centers. He announced the launch of a public awareness program to protect against diseases and prevent the spread of dengue in the current season. He also mentioned that the provincial government would welcome further cooperation from donor organizations in these efforts.

The Chief Minister praised WHO’s universal health coverage program in Charsadda district and proposed extending it to other districts to benefit more people. He also noted the importance of providing necessary health facilities at the local level to enhance healthcare services for the public.

WHO Country Head Dr. Lo Diping emphasized the organization’s commitment to working closely with the provincial government to support public health initiatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He commended the leadership of the Chief Minister in relation to the anti-polio program and reiterated WHO’s willingness to provide all possible support to implement the provincial government’s vision for the health sector.

Provincial Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah and other government officials were also present at the meeting. The discussions centered on expanding cooperation in health programs, combating polio, and addressing public health challenges through joint efforts between WHO and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
