Kuwait to Support Pakistan’s Mohmand Dam and Kachhi Canal Projects

Islamabad, In a significant boost to Pakistan’s infrastructure ambitions, Kuwait has expressed its willingness to fund major projects including the Kachhi Canal and Mohmand Dam, as part of broader cooperation under the Pakistan-Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the fifth session of the Commission held in Kuwait, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan and Kuwait’s Minister for Commerce and Industry Omar Saud Al-Omar, the two countries agreed to sign a loan agreement worth $25 million next month for the Mohmand Dam.

Moreover, the Kuwait Fund has shown interest in considering financial support for the Kachhi Canal project. These discussions are part of ongoing efforts to cement the partnership across various sectors, including agriculture, maritime and ports, and education. The session also led to the formation of Joint Working Groups focused on enhancing trade, investment, and visa and consular affairs, marking a milestone in the strengthening of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Kuwait.
