Lahore Engages in Diplomatic Talks with Uzbekistan to Boost Economic and Social Ties

Lahore, In a strategic move aimed at enhancing bilateral relations, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif held discussions with Uzbek Ambassador Obek Arif Usmanov, focusing on issues of mutual interest and potential areas of cooperation. The meeting highlighted the shared vision between the two sides for deepening economic collaboration and promoting trade, education, health, and agriculture.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude towards Ambassador Usmanov and acknowledged the longstanding contributions of Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in fostering trade relations with Central Asian states, including Uzbekistan. Ambassador Usmanov lauded Muhammad Nawaz Sharif as a visionary leader whose efforts have significantly boosted trade and development in the region.

The meeting also served as an occasion for Ambassador Usmanov to commend the late Kulsoom Nawaz Sharif for her democratic endeavors in Pakistan, as well as to recognize Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s ongoing efforts towards the welfare of Punjab’s populace, particularly the youth. Both parties expressed a keen interest in expanding economic cooperation across various sectors such as education, health, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and surgical equipment, with a special emphasis on enhancing the trade of garments and the import of modern agricultural machinery from Uzbekistan to Punjab.

Chief Minister Sharif underscored the fraternal bond between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, expressing a strong desire to fortify social and economic relations through increased economic cooperation. The discussions have set the stage for a more interconnected partnership, aiming to yield significant benefits for both regions in terms of trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

The meeting, which saw the participation of Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Parvez Rashid, and other officials, marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between Lahore and Tashkent, promising a bright future for bilateral relations.
