Lahore Police Honor Officers Wounded in Line of Duty with Ghazi Medals

Lahore, A ceremony to honor the bravery of Punjab Police officers who sustained injuries from criminals’ bullets while on duty was held at the Central Police Office today. Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, awarded IG Police Ghazi Medals to 17 officers from the DG Khan region in recognition of their courage and sacrifice. The recipients, who have been actively involved in various high-risk operations, include officers from districts such as DG Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, and Layyah.

According to Punjab Police, Since the inception of the program in March 2023, a total of 1969 officers have been recognized as Ghazis. This year alone, 196 officers have received this distinction. The ceremony also highlighted the Punjab Police’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel, with over 1.2 billion rupees allocated this year for initiatives including scholarships and medical grants.

The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including the Additional IG Punjab and SP Traffic Sadar Lahore, who all paid tribute to the officers’ dedication. Dr. Anwar emphasized the importance of continuous support for the injured officers, ensuring they receive the best possible medical care and other welfare benefits to aid their recovery.
