Law Minister Tarar Affirms Government Stability Despite SC’s Reserved Seats Ruling

Islamabad: Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar stated today that the Supreme Court’s judgment on the reserved seats case does not pose a challenge to the government, citing the ruling coalition’s majority in both the National and Punjab Assemblies.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a news conference, Minister Tarar emphasized the government’s robust position, highlighted by the recent passage of the finance bill for 2024-25 with a solid majority. He clarified that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was not involved in the reserved seats litigation, noting that it was the Sunni Ittehad Council which had approached the court.

In response to inquiries about potential repercussions for political parties affected by the decision, the Law Minister indicated that it would be up to those parties to decide whether to file a review petition against the Supreme Court’s ruling.
