Ministry of Human Rights Holds Consultation in Peshawar on International Human Rights Treaties

Peshawar: The Ministry of Human Rights Islamabad successfully hosted a one-day consultation on July 11, 2024, focusing on Pakistan’s commitments to international human rights standards. The event, held at Serena Hotel, brought together provincial stakeholders to discuss the List of Issues related to Pakistan’s Second Periodic Report on the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights, as well as the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

According to Ministry of Human Rights, the consultation was pivotal as Pakistan prepares to present its report to the international treaty body in August 2024. The meeting served as a platform for mutual learning and sharing updates on significant initiatives addressing concerns raised by the treaty bodies. Stakeholders reiterated their commitment to prioritize the sharing of information regarding the List of Issues.
