Islamabad, In a statement marking Al-Quds Day, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah voiced their support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state within the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds al-Sharif as its capital. The leaders condemned the recent Israeli actions in Palestine, highlighting the significant loss of life and calling for international intervention to uphold Palestinian rights.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the remarks were made in the context of Jumat-ul-Widaa Day, an occasion that saw the Speaker emphasize Pakistan’s recognition of the Palestinian right to self-determination and its support for their struggle for freedom. Sadiq detailed the severe impact of Israeli military actions, including the death of over 32,000 Palestinians, among them 11,000 children, injuries to more than 77,000, and over 38,000 people missing. He criticized international human rights organizations for their failure to protect those in Gaza and called on the United Nations to enforce recent Security Council resolutions concerning Palestine.
