National Assembly Speaker meets Saudi Crown Prince

Islamabad, November 17, 2013 (PPI-OT): Speaker, National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq called on Saudi Crown Prince and Defense Minister, His Royal Highness, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Riyadh on Sunday according to a message received from Saudi Arabia. During their meeting both the leaders expressed satisfaction at the status of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq conveyed to the Crown Prince the greetings of President and Prime Minister of Pakistan which were warmly reciprocated by the Crown Prince. The Speaker expressed his desire to further intensify cooperation between the two sides.

He remarked that a regular exchange of high level visits would play an important role in further strengthening relations. He thanked the Crown Prince for the announcement of amnesty to expatriate workers which has enabled about 800,000 Pakistanis in the Kingdom to correct their status. He expressed the hope that Pakistanis in far-flung areas of the Kingdom would be allowed to correct their status despite the expiry of the deadline.

The Crown Prince termed relations between the two sides as historic and unique. He said that Pakistan was the closest friend and ally to the Kingdom. Responding to Speaker’s request regarding of out-of-status Pakistanis, the Crown Prince said that the proposal would be considered by the relevant authorities sympathetically.

Earlier, the Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan was received at the airport by Honorable Speaker, Majlis Shoura, Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh and Vice Speaker, Dr. Mohammed Amin Ahmad Jefri along with Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan and other officials of Pakistan Embassy.

The visiting Speaker is heading a parliamentary delegation of 7 Members of National Assembly of Pakistan. After the arrival of The Honorable Speaker of Majlis Shoura hosted a lunch in honor of the Pakistani delegation. The two speakers agreed that parliamentary exchanges between the two sides need to be enhanced. The two sides also agreed in principle to work out a Memorandum of Understanding for this purpose.
