OGRA Increases RLNG Prices Effective April 2024

Islamabad, The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced new prices for Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG), effective April 1, 2024, following the Federal Government’s Policy Guidelines. The updated prices reflect an increase in RLNG costs due to changes in the Delivered Ex-Ship (DES) price.

According to Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, the new RLNG prices are as follows:

For Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), the transmission rate is set at $11.9862 per MMBtu, with the distribution rate at $12.9462 per MMBtu.

For Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL), the transmission rate is $11.3334 per MMBtu, with the distribution rate at $13.1947 per MMBtu.

These rates represent a slight increase compared to the prices in March 2024. For SNGPL, the transmission rate increased by $0.1218, while the distribution rate saw a $0.1320 rise. This represents a 1.03% increase for both categories. SSGCL’s transmission rate rose by $0.1187, and the distribution rate increased by $0.1384, marking a 1.06% increase in both cases.

The updated RLNG price notification for April 2024 is available on the OGRA website, providing detailed information on the new rates. The primary reason for the increase in RLNG prices is attributed to a rise in the DES price, which affects the overall cost of importing LNG.

The updated RLNG prices will impact the cost of energy for both commercial and residential consumers, as well as industries that rely on RLNG for their operations. OGRA’s announcement aims to maintain transparency in the pricing of RLNG and keep stakeholders informed about changes that affect their energy costs.
