Pak-Maldives enjoy close relations

Islamabad: Pakistan and Maldives enjoy close and cordial relations, based on bonds of common religion, mutual trust and affinity between the people of the two countries. This was stated by the Federal Minister for Defence, Ch.Ahmad Mukhtar, while talking to his Maldivian counterpart H.E. Mr. Tholhath Ibrahim, who called on the Federal Minister in his office today in the Ministry of Defence.

The Maldivian delegation is on a three days official visit to Pakistan, during which it will meet the political and military leadership of the three services in Pakistan, in addition to planned visits of various defence production facilities. Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar, expressed his satisfaction on the extent of military cooperation, including training and transfer of military equipment to Maldives by Pakistan.

He emphasized to explore further prospects to continue and augment the same in future. Regarding Pakistan’s role in war on terror, commitment to take it to its logical conclusion and sacrifices were highlighted to the delegation. Need for reconciliation process and social development of affected areas was also emphasized.

The Maldivian Defence Minister thanked for elaborate arrangements and hospitality extended to his delegation and acknowledged Pakistan’s crucial role in bringing peace and stability in Afghanistan, as well as the region. On completion of visit, exchange of souvenirs took place, followed by a group photo of the delegation.
