Pakistan and Iran Commit to Deepening Defense and Energy Ties

Islamabad, In a meeting aimed at bolstering bilateral relations, Pakistan’s Minister for Defence and Defence Production, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, hosted H.E. Reza Amiri Moghaddam, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Islamabad. The discussions centered on enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including defense and energy, and reaffirmed both nations’ commitment to addressing regional security challenges and economic connectivity.

According to Press Information Department, Minister Asif underscored the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran, enriched by shared religious and cultural histories. He reiterated Pakistan’s stance on the Palestine issue, emphasizing the necessity for an early ceasefire in Gaza and a lasting resolution to the conflict.

The meeting also highlighted the significance of the Joint Border Commission, with Minister Asif noting Pakistan’s comprehensive measures in border management. He advocated for continued joint efforts to ensure border security and cooperation.

Ambassador Moghaddam expressed admiration for Pakistan’s defense capabilities and acknowledged the potential for expanded collaboration between the two countries, particularly in the realms of defense and energy. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral cooperation and committed to further enhancing their partnership, focusing on security, counter-terrorism, and regional economic connectivity.
