Pakistan and Sri Lanka to Hasten Repatriation of Pakistani Prisoners

Islamabad: In a significant diplomatic engagement, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have agreed to accelerate the repatriation of Pakistani nationals imprisoned in Sri Lanka. This agreement was reached during a meeting between Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ravindra Chandrasiri Wijegunaratne, and Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting focused on several mutual interests, notably the expedited release and return of Pakistani prisoners who have been detained in Sri Lanka for several years. Both parties have committed to completing the necessary steps to facilitate the prisoners’ return within a week.

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner affirmed his country’s commitment to supporting the process and highlighted the importance of Sri Lanka’s relations with Pakistan. This move is expected to further strengthen diplomatic ties between the two nations.
