Pakistan and Turkmenistan Intensify Efforts on TAPI Gas Pipeline Project

Islamabad: In a significant development, Pakistan and Turkmenistan have reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. This commitment was highlighted during a meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Musadik Malik, and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, who is currently on a two-day visit to Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and addressing the energy needs of the participating countries through the TAPI project. The meeting also underscored the project’s role in promoting economic growth and integration among the involved nations.

Dr. Musadik Malik expressed Pakistan’s strong commitment to the TAPI project, noting its potential to reduce energy costs, boost industrial growth, and create employment opportunities. He emphasized that reliable and affordable energy is crucial for the economic stability of the region.

Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov acknowledged the warm hospitality received during his visit and expressed enthusiasm for setting a cooperative roadmap forward. Muhammetmyrat Amanov, CEO of TAPI Pipeline Company Ltd, also commented on the significant progress made in the project, facilitated by continuous support from both governments.

The visit marks a pivotal moment in strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, promising continued collaboration to overcome challenges and realize the strategic benefits of the TAPI pipeline.
