Pakistan and UK Reinforce Parliamentary Ties and Cooperation

Islamabad, Deputy Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, emphasized the strong relationship between Pakistan and the United Kingdom during a meeting with Ms. Zoe Ware, the Political Counselor of the British High Commission, at the Parliament House in Islamabad. Shah highlighted the importance of parliamentary cooperation and dialogue in strengthening democratic processes.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Ms. Ware congratulated Deputy Speaker Shah on his recent election and expressed the UK’s commitment to continuing support for Pakistan, particularly in the sectors of education, energy, trade, and investment. Shah reiterated the significance of the UK Parliament, often referred to as the mother of all parliaments, whose traditions are widely followed in numerous democracies around the world. He underscored that the Pakistani Parliament is dedicated to addressing public issues with priority and believes that enhanced cooperation between the two nations’ parliaments would deepen bilateral relations.

The meeting underscored the mutual interest in fostering stronger parliamentary ties and dialogue as fundamental to reinforcing the democratic framework and addressing common challenges in education, energy, and economic development.
