London, In a significant move to enhance collaboration between law enforcement agencies, Pakistan and the United Kingdom have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI). This agreement aims to improve coordination in criminal investigations, combat illegal migration, and strengthen efforts in drug prevention.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the LoI was signed by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and British Home Secretary James Cleverly. The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation on a variety of serious criminal issues, including the management of air and sea border crimes and the combatting of illicit financial threats.
A Joint Steering Committee, comprising representatives from Pakistan’s Interior Ministry, the National Police Bureau, and the British High Commission, will oversee the implementation of the agreement. This committee is tasked with ensuring effective cooperation and coordination between the two nations’ law enforcement bodies.
The signing ceremony followed discussions between Naqvi and Cleverly on ways to deepen bilateral relations and mutual security concerns, reflecting a shared commitment to addressing complex transnational criminal challenges.
