Pakistan Army Chief Extends Condolences to Iran Over Helicopter Crash

Islamabad, General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army, expressed condolences during a phone call with Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, regarding the helicopter crash on May 19, 2024, that resulted in the deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian, and other officials.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, the conversation underscored the deep ties between Pakistan and Iran and the shared grief over the tragic accident.

During the call, General Munir highlighted the significant loss of both leaders, describing them as exceptional and true friends of Pakistan. He conveyed the condolences of the Pakistan Army, extending prayers for the deceased and well wishes for their families. The discussion also reaffirmed the strong historical, cultural, and military cooperation between the two nations, with General Bagheri acknowledging the support and pledging continued bilateral military collaboration.
