Pakistan Cotton Ginner Association Delegation Meets with Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain

Lahore, The delegation of Pakistan Cotton Ginner Association met with the Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain to discuss excise highway tax on ginning factories, imported cotton seed, tax on Binola, and other related issues. The delegation also demanded the establishment of a new industrial estate in Multan. The provincial minister assured that the problems of the cotton ginners association and ginning factories would be prioritized.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain emphasized that while sugar mill owners earn substantial profits each year, they often delay payments to farmers. He highlighted the importance of cotton as a cash crop and stressed the need to raise awareness among farmers. He also pointed out that the textile sector is a significant source of employment and announced the development of Garment City on a 2,000-acre site near Lahore to promote the textile industry. Additionally, a Business Facilitation Center has been established in Multan to assist industrialists, with officers from 25 federal and provincial departments working there.

The Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce ordered a survey for the establishment of a new industrial estate on barren land in Multan. The delegation included Chairman of Pakistan Cotton Ginner Association Chaudhry Waheed Arshad, Sohail Haral, Muhammad Akram, and others. MD PSIC Sidra Younis, Senior Economic Adviser Javed Iqbal, Additional Secretary Commerce, and other officers were also present at the meeting.
