Pakistan Denounces Israeli Assault on Iranian Embassy in Damascus

Islamabad, Pakistan’s government has issued a stern condemnation of the recent attack on the Iranian Embassy’s consular section in Damascus, Syria, calling it a blatant violation of international norms and Syrian sovereignty.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch delivered a forceful statement criticizing the assault. She described it as an infringement on Syria’s sovereignty, destabilizing its security and contradicting the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Baloch emphasized that such aggressive actions against diplomatic personnel or premises are prohibited under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. She labeled the actions of the Israeli forces as reckless, highlighting the potential for escalation in an already tense region.

The spokesperson urged the United Nations Security Council to hold Israel accountable for its provocative behavior, including its repeated offenses against neighboring states and the targeting of international diplomatic sites.

Expressing solidarity, Baloch conveyed Pakistan’s deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and extended condolences to the Iranian people and government over the casualties resulting from the attack.

Pakistan’s forceful response underscores its commitment to upholding international law and regional stability in the face of such violations.
