Islamabad: Pakistan has issued a firm condemnation of remarks made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggesting that Palestinians should establish a state in Saudi Arabia. The statement adds tension to an already delicate situation in the Middle East.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar labeled Netanyahu’s remarks as irresponsible and provocative. He asserted that such comments undermine the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights to self-determination and an independent state within their historical territory.
Dar expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia, acknowledging its steadfast support for the Palestinian cause. He criticized any attempts to misrepresent Saudi Arabia’s commitment to this cause as deeply regrettable.
Emphasizing Pakistan’s stance, Dar reiterated the belief that Palestinians have an inalienable right to an independent state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital. He dismissed any proposal that would displace Palestinians from their homeland as a violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.
The government of Pakistan reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian cause, vowing to work with Saudi Arabia and the international community to advocate for Palestinian rights and seek a comprehensive solution to the conflict.
Dar called on the international community to denounce Netanyahu’s remarks and hold Israel accountable for actions that could undermine the peace process.
