Pakistan Digital City to Establish in Haripur, Aiming to Boost IT Sector and Employment

Haripur, An 8 billion rupee agreement has been signed to establish Pakistan Digital City in Haripur, under the auspices of the Special Investment Facilitation Council. This initiative involves collaboration between the Special Technology Zones Authority and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the new Digital City will span over 11 acres and aims to become the country’s first tax-free zone, with a tax exemption for companies operating within it for the next ten years. The project, expected to be fully operational by 2026, is projected to accommodate about four thousand IT startups.

The development of Pakistan Digital City is anticipated to significantly increase IT exports, potentially exceeding 50 million dollars, while also creating numerous job opportunities for IT graduates. Notably, 30 percent of the construction work on the Digital City has already been completed, supported by prior investments totaling 1642 million rupees from Nespak and the National Logistics Cell.
