Kunming: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, concluded a significant official visit to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, aimed at strengthening economic and diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. The visit coincided with the 8th China-South Asia Expo, where Pakistan was honored as the theme country.
According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Hashmi’s visit from July 22-24 was at the invitation of Yunnan’s provincial authorities and featured participation in key forums like the 5th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum and the 17th China-South Asia Business Forum. His engagements underscored the deepening partnership between Pakistan and China, particularly in light of recent high-level exchanges and the ongoing advancements in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
During the expo, Ambassador Hashmi inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion, which showcased the contributions of 180 businessmen along with major chambers like FPCCI and KCCI. He emphasized the importance of such international platforms in boosting regional connectivity and trade. The Ambassador also highlighted the positive dynamics of Pakistan-China trade relations following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit, which aimed to bolster bilateral economic ties further.
Ambassador Hashmi also addressed the necessity of peaceful dispute resolution and the critical role of regional peace and stability in fostering economic development and prosperity. His interactions in Kunming with political leaders, enterprises, academia, and the media were geared towards enhancing practical cooperation for mutual benefits, stressing the importance of adapting to the complexities of the regional and international environment.
