Pakistan Establishes Youth Initiatives and Strengthens Ties with Commonwealth

London: The Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan, met with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC, to discuss Pakistan’s active role and new initiatives under the Commonwealth framework.

According to Press Information Department, during the meeting at the Commonwealth Secretariat, Rana Mashood highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to the Commonwealth’s Sustainable Development Agenda, citing areas such as education, youth and women’s empowerment, health, and climate change mitigation. He briefed the Secretary General on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent initiatives, including the multi-sector partnership program “Generation Unlimited” and the establishment of a National Youth Council in Pakistan, aimed at empowering young leaders to provide policy advice on youth-related issues.

The Secretary General appreciated Pakistan’s proactive efforts and emphasized the importance of collaborative endeavors like the Commonwealth AI Consortium, which Pakistan has been invited to join. This initiative aims to advance youth education in technology and artificial intelligence, areas where Pakistan already ranks third globally in youth employability.
