Pakistan Honors Fallen Customs Officials with Army Commanders’ Visits

Dera Ismail Khan, Eight customs officials who were killed in the line of duty in April 2024 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were honored this week as senior army commanders visited their families to express the nation’s condolences and support.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, the visits were part of a gesture of solidarity and recognition of the officials’ selfless sacrifice in the fight against illegal activities. The senior commanders, representing the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), paid tribute to the martyrs, expressing unflinching support and gratitude on behalf of the entire army.

The families of the fallen officials expressed their appreciation for the support and respect shown by the army. The statement from the military emphasized the importance of honoring the “Shuhadas” (martyrs) and “Ghazis” (survivors of war) as national heroes, stating that their ultimate sacrifices are the foundation of the peace and freedom enjoyed by Pakistan today. The nation, as a collective, was reminded of its duty to respect and honor these families, acknowledging their significant loss and the bravery of their loved ones.
