Islamabad, Pakistan and Iran have signed eight agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to promote cooperation in various fields, including security, judicial assistance, and animal health.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the agreements were signed during a ceremony witnessed by Iran’s President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The agreements cover a range of areas, reflecting the expanding relationship between the two countries.
The agreements include cooperation in security and judicial assistance in civil matters, as well as veterinary and animal health. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed for the establishment of a special economic zone, aiming to boost trade and economic activities between Pakistan and Iran.
In the cultural sector, an MoU was signed for film exchanges and cooperation between the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan and the Organization of Cinema and Audio Visual Affairs of Iran. This move is expected to foster cultural ties between the two countries.
Other MoUs were signed between the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare of Iran, highlighting a focus on labour and social welfare collaboration. Similarly, the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority and the National Standards Organization of Iran signed an MoU to promote cooperation in standardization and quality control.
An additional MoU was signed on legal cooperation, further underscoring the commitment of both nations to strengthen their judicial and legal ties.
The agreements reflect the growing collaboration between Pakistan and Iran across various sectors, from security to trade to culture, indicating a renewed focus on enhancing bilateral relations.
