Pakistan Lauds UN Resolution for Ceasefire in Gaza

Islamabad, Pakistan has officially expressed its support for the United Nations Security Council’s recent resolution 2728, which demands an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan. This resolution also calls for the free flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, the removal of barriers to humanitarian assistance, and the protection of civilians throughout the Gaza Strip.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan has been vocal over the past six months in its criticism of the indiscriminate force used by Israel, advocating for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, unobstructed humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza, the return of displaced Palestinians, and accountability for Israel’s actions. The country views the adoption of resolution 2728 as a critical step toward halting Israel’s aggressive actions, establishing a lasting ceasefire, and addressing the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to supporting a just, comprehensive, and lasting resolution that includes the establishment of a secure, viable, contiguous, and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. This stance underscores Pakistan’s ongoing dedication to peace and stability in the region.
