Pakistan Launches First Digital Integrated Agricultural Census

Islamabad: The inauguration of the 7th Agricultural Census, marked as Pakistan’s first digital, integrated count of agriculture, was led by Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal. This groundbreaking initiative aims to enhance the accuracy and timeliness of agricultural data to inform policy-making and boost productivity.

According to Press Information Department, the event held at NIBAF, Islamabad, introduced the training for 311 Census Master Trainers (CMTs) who will subsequently prepare over 6,500 enumerators and 1,368 supervisors across Pakistan. Dr. Naeem uz Zafar, Chief Census Commissioner, and other senior officials highlighted the significance of this digital transition in capturing comprehensive agricultural data.

Minister Iqbal praised the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics for their efforts and underscored the importance of this census in driving informed decisions and policies. The training of CMTs is crucial for the successful conduct of the field operations scheduled from August to October 2024, which will pave the way for enhanced economic planning and development strategies.
