Pakistan Launches First Hangor-Class Submarine Built in China

Islamabad, In a significant step to bolster its naval capabilities, Pakistan celebrated the launching of its first Hangor-class submarine at Shuangliu Base in Wuhan, China. The ceremony marks a critical phase in a broader defense collaboration between Pakistan and China.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf attended the event as the chief guest. The submarine’s construction is part of a larger agreement signed during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan, under which eight Hangor-class submarines are to be built. Four of these submarines will be constructed in China, and the remaining four will be assembled at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Limited in Pakistan.

These state-of-the-art vessels are equipped with advanced weaponry and sensor technology, capable of targeting long-range threats. This project not only enhances Pakistan’s defense capabilities but also strengthens the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, adding a new dimension to their bilateral relations.
