Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Preserving Buddhist Heritage

Islamabad, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has asserted Pakistan’s dedication to the preservation of Buddhist heritage sites and promoting cooperation to safeguard historical locations.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a ceremony in Islamabad, Dar highlighted Pakistan’s role as the guardian of significant Buddhist sites in regions such as Gandhara, Taxila, Swat Valley, and Takht Bhai. He emphasized these sites’ historical importance as centers of Buddhist scholarship and their role in spreading Buddhist teachings across Asia.

Dar advocated for stronger ties with predominantly Buddhist states through cultural exchanges, religious tourism, and educational initiatives. He also called for a united stance against intolerance, violence, and hatred, proposing the creation of a joint forum to address these challenges.
