Pakistan Reiterates Commitment to Regional Peace and Security at ASEAN Forum

Islamabad, At the recent Senior Officials Meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum held in Laos, Additional Foreign Secretary Ambassador Imran Ahmed Siddiqui affirmed Pakistan’s dedication to fostering regional peace, security, and prosperity.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Siddiqui praised the ASEAN Regional Forum’s critical role in multilateral efforts to enhance regional peace and prosperity. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the principles of the United Nations Charter and the Forum’s mandate, highlighting the need for international cooperation to achieve shared goals of stability and sustainable prosperity.

The Additional Foreign Secretary emphasized the importance of an equitable and inclusive security framework and stressed the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. This, he noted, is vital for lasting peace in South Asia.

Siddiqui also condemned the increasing prevalence of Islamophobia and the use of Islamophobic agendas in political campaigns. He called for comprehensive strategies to address the root causes of terrorism and for international scrutiny and accountability for extraterritorial killings by foreign agents in Pakistan.

Further, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent stance on the Palestinian issue, advocating for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and the cessation of foreign occupation in Palestinian territories.
