Pakistan Seeks to Deepen Economic and Cultural Ties with Turkey


Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari today called for an expansion of economic and cultural relations between Pakistan and Turkey, emphasizing the need for increased trade, educational exchanges, and infrastructure development. Speaking with the Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Mehmet Pacaci, President Zardari encouraged Turkish companies to take advantage of Pakistan’s investment-friendly policies and explore opportunities through the Pakistan Stock Exchange.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions also focused on leveraging Turkey’s development experience to boost Pakistan’s infrastructure projects. President Zardari proposed a joint feasibility study for establishing a railway connection between the two countries, which he believes could enhance regional connectivity.



Furthermore, President Zardari highlighted the importance of educational and cultural exchanges to strengthen the bilateral ties that are rooted in a long-standing historical and cultural connection. He acknowledged the mutual support the two nations have provided each other during challenging times.



The meeting also served as a platform for President Zardari to express his anticipation for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s upcoming visit to Pakistan for the 7th High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council session. He thanked President Erdogan for his congratulatory messages following Zardari’s election and the start of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak, reciprocating with warm greetings and well wishes.



This engagement underscores Pakistan’s strategic interest in fostering a robust partnership with Turkey, aiming to create new avenues for cooperation and mutual development in various sectors.
